YOUR ROLE
The Program Manager ensures the success of delivery of all Discover Coding programs. You will set up instructors for success by providing them with needed curriculum, resources and schedules. You will ensure programs are welcoming, fun and safe for parents and kids. You will plan, market and organize programs and manage daily business operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, manages, and runs Discover Coding’s seasonal computer science programs, both in-person and online. This includes managing, scheduling, and communicating with a team of instructors.
- Train and mentor our instructors into amazing leaders in coding and technology education.
- Ensures programs with run consistency, reliability and up to Discover Coding quality and standards.
- Collaborates with business partners to deliver joint programs.
- Promotes and markets Discover Coding’s programs to families and DC audience.
- Schedules full-time and part-time instructors so their hours are fulfilled as required.
- Supports instructors and provides constructive feedback for them to grow in their professional practice.
- Covers instructor shifts and is on-call to support if emergencies.
- Works within Discover Coding’s mission and values.
- Report program and staff updates to management

Your Role

You will ensure classes run smoothly and deliver the Discover Coding programs to our high quality and standards.

- Assist Lead Instructor in teaching kids aged 5-14 how to code
- Provide guidance for kids to problem solve and apply their creativity in programming
- Ensure classroom technology is set up
- Supervise kids during their breaks
- Support a dynamic learning environment that engages & facilitates authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences
- Maintain positive relationships with parents and students, providing excellent customer service as required
- Work collaboratively and proactively with a team to provide valuable experiences and deliver results

You will assist with ensuring students are engaged in their learning, make sure the physical environment is clean and maintained, and be an extra person to help make sure our programs run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Assist Technical and Lead Instructors in helping students with their coding projects
- Model kindness to everyone, responsibility with technology, and proactive communication to staff and students
- Make sure toy robots and educational technology is charged and put away properly
- Play with students to encourage engagement in activities
- Assist with supervising kids during their breaks
- Encourage students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences to practice problem-solving and creativity in coding
- Be available for small housekeeping tasks
- Work collaboratively and proactively with a team, following the lead of the Lead Instructor
- Potentially help keep kids entertained or engaged in an activity if troubleshooting technology issues arise
